Ana Sofia Suarez was born in Caracas, Venezuela. She started her journey on violin at the age of 8 and switched to viola at 16. She is a former member of “El Sistema” Venezuela and was part of the Youth Symphony Orchestra Teresa Carreño of Venezuela, where she traveled internationally to the Salzburg Festival in Austria in the summer of 2013 and to Germany. She was also a former member of the Maturin Chamber Orchestra, who toured the Caribbean island of Saint Lucia. As a violinist, she auditioned and played for the National Children's Orchestra of Venezuela in 2010 under the conductor Sir Simon Rattle. Ana Sofia has also played several times as a soloist with chamber and symphonic orchestras. She played Bela Bartok’s Concerto for Viola and Orchestra with the Monagas Symphony Orchestra, Telemann’s Viola Concerto with the Maturin Chamber Orchestra, and Max Bruch’s Romanze for Viola and Orchestra with the Caripito Youth Symphony Orchestra. Ana Sofia is currently the Viola Principal for the Baton Rouge Symphony Orchestra.
