Jaime Michelle Compton-Galván is a cellist based in Baton Rouge, Louisiana. Since 2018, she has been a member of the Baton Rouge Symphony Orchestra and currently serves as Principal Cellist of Opera Louisiane. She is also a frequent Guest Principal Cellist with the Amarillo Symphony. Originally from New Jersey, Jaime holds a Doctor of Musical Arts in Cello Performance from Louisiana State University, as well as a Master of Music in Cello Performance and a Bachelor’s degree in Music Education from Montclair State University. She is grateful to have studied with inspiring teachers including Nicholas Tzavaras, Dennis Parker, and Jonathan Spitz. A passionate chamber musician, Jaime frequently performs with her husband, Rafael, a versatile violinist and violist. She is equally dedicated to music education and is proud to serve as cello professor at the University of Louisiana Lafayette, in addition to maintaining a thriving private studio. Outside of music, Jaime loves traveling, reading, and riding bikes with her husband. She also happily embraces her role as favorite daughter, sister, and aunt.
