joey troia

Born and raised in Southeast Louisiana, Joey Troia is proud to serve as 2nd Horn of the Baton Rouge Symphony Orchestra. In demand through the southern United States, Joey frequently joins the orchestras of Meridian, Gulf Coast (MS), Pensacola, Houston, and the Louisiana Philharmonic Orchestra, where he spent the 2022-23 season as Acting 4th Horn. Additionally, he serves as Utility Horn of the Mobile Symphony Orchestra. Joey received a Bachelor of Music Education degree from Loyola University of New Orleans studying with Principal Horn of the Louisiana Philharmonic Orchestra, Mollie Pate. He then went on to the University of Houston where he studied with the Houston Symphony's Associate Principal Horn, Robert Johnson. His other notable mentors include Lee Hicks, Justice Buras, and Matthew Eckenhoff. Thanks to the teachers above, Mr. Troia has always had a passion for guiding the next generation of great Louisiana musicians. Middle and high school brass sections that have worked with him regularly earn superior ratings at festivals, and his private students are often selected to district, region, and state level honor bands. When not teaching or performing, Joey and his wife, Sarah, wrangle their boys, Thomas and Theodore.
