Dr. Johan Pepper, violinist, is originally from Guayaquil, Ecuador. He began his musical studies under the guidance of Chilean violinist Jorge Zurita and later earned a scholarship to the Rimsky-Korsakov Conservatory extension program in Guayaquil. He continued his education in Germany at the Musikakademie der Stadt Kassel “Louis Spohr,” where he completed a bachelor’s degree in Violin Pedagogy and Composition, studying with Maestra Tianwa Yang and Maestro Christoph Callies. Dr. Pepper holds both a Master of Music and a Doctor of Musical Arts degree in Violin Performance from Louisiana State University, where he studied with Maestro Espen Lilleslatten. As an active orchestral and chamber musician, he has performed with the Amarillo Symphony, Baton Rouge Symphony, Acadiana Symphony, Rapides Symphony, and the Louisiana Philharmonic Orchestra. He has appeared as a soloist with several orchestras in Ecuador and continues to perform internationally across South America, Europe, and the United States. In addition to his performing career, Dr. Pepper is a dedicated educator, serving on the faculty of the Baton Rouge Conservatory and collaborating with Opera Louisiana. His work reflects a passion for performance, education, and musical creativity.
