PRINCIPAL
Molly Goforth is an active chamber and orchestral musician based in Lafayette, Louisiana. She is the principal cellist of the Baton Rouge Symphony and maintains a pre-college studio, teaching students as young as one through advanced levels. As an educator, Ms. Goforth has a broad background that includes positions as a high school orchestra director in the public schools, faculty member in the Scrollworks El Sistema program, university studio teacher, and private lesson instructor. Her students are frequently selected for the Louisiana All-State Orchestra, the LPSS Gifted & Talented program, and often work professionally as church musicians and freelancers. As a performer, she presents solo recitals and regularly collaborates in chamber ensembles across LA and the South. Ms. Goforth earned her M.M. in Cello Performance from DePaul University and her B.M. from the University of Louisville. She is also a registered Suzuki teacher and has studied privately with Stephen Balderston, Alan Harris, Darrett Adkins, Craig Hultgren, Alice Ann OβNeill, and Paul York.
