sonia feres-lloyd
Dr. Sônia Feres-Lloyd has been an integral part of the Baton Rouge Symphony Orchestra, performing since 1993-94 and from 1998 to the present. Her musical journey also includes enriching experiences with Opera Louisiane, showcasing her versatility and passion for performance. A dedicated educator with over 40 years of pedagogical expertise, Sônia has nurtured young musicians both in her native Brazil at the Escola de Música de Jundiaí, and in the United States since 1993. Her educational journey continued at Louisiana State University, where she earned both her Master’s and Doctoral degrees, contributing significantly to the LSU Music Academy and as a teacher assistant. In July 2024 Sônia was a presenter at the 49th International Viola Congress at the State University of Campinas (UNICAMP), Brazil, in a special lecture recital in honor to composer Ernst Mahle (1929-2025).
Sônia co-founded her Children’s Music Studio, where she and her husband, Bill Lloyd, introduce the joys of music and movement to babies, toddlers, and their families through the Music Together® program. This year marks the 20th anniversary of the Children’s Music Studio!
